Mall Horrors!

So I went for a bit of shopping today after a long stressful day at work.

Overall the shopping spree went well, loved the sale at H&M

But then again a day at City Center Quram can't be complete without a few fashion horrors, right?

Well am done talking about how the girls dress, its getting OLD..

I will tell you now about the fashion horrors in the stores stock

So fashion horror #1: The shoes at Vincci

So look at this photo, look at the highlighted shoe,

reminds you of something?

Let me help you a bit: TORY BURCH!

Now I didn't hear about any collaboration between Tory Burch and Vincci - if you did please let me know-

so am not sure now what is the shoe all about?
 Is it:
A copy-cat?
A Tory Burch inspired design? - if that's the case- its a bad inspiration and the shoe turned out ugly as hell

if it is simply a copy, then shame on you Vincci!

anyhow I am still trying to figure out the whole shoe issue, wondering if ana '6lamthom and there is actually a very top secret collaboration going on..so if you have any thoughts please do share.

So five minutes later: am infront of Nayomi, and I was like hey I wanna get me one of those whole towel sets, they are really cute and very useful. You have the wrap around towel with a bow, a set of 4 towels and slippers.

Here are few photos of them

Now wait don't get me wrong, those towel sets are not the "horror" am speaking about, infact those are gorgeous and one of the very few nice items you can find in Nayomi.

The horror was:

Horror #2: The Bride Costume

So as I was looking around Nayomi, I came across something very disturbing, in the section of their errr  lingerie, there was a sad ass "bride costume". Now I couldn't take a photo infront of the workers in the shop, but I have found some photos of something similar to what I saw in the shop.

It was a bride costume, you know the one where you dress up as a bride, like in Halloween..

It was a short white dress, with a veil, a tiara and a white thong!

something like this:

It was so scary, and freaky and TOTALLY NUTS!

I mean who in her right mind will wear this for her: husband, boyfriend or finace!

I kept picturing various scenarios

Scenario A: A girlfriend wears it for her boyfriend on what supposed to be a hot steamy night:

The man will probably run for his life, thinking his girlfriend has lost her mind and wants to force him into marriage more like: ba7o6ak fee el amar el waqi3! Who knows he might think there is a wedding ring hidden up her vagina and a sheikh outside waiting to do the 3aqad el qaran! RUN FOR COVER BOY, RUN FROM THIS MARRIAGE OBSESSED PYSCHO!

Scenario B: A wife wears it for her husband on their wedding night

So she gets out of the actual wedding dress and into this costume and goes like: 7ayaaati ana 3aroostak, and he will be like: duuh, I know, we just had a huge wedding, I know u r my bride, what is the point? isn't that like stating the obvious! I know you are my wife 5laaa9!

Scenario C: A wife wears it for her husband after 3 years

Now this is so sad I don't even want to make fun of it, he knows it, you know it, the whole society knows it, you are not a bride anymore, your 15 minutes of wearing the tiara is over, ahhh simply: sad, very very sad

So as I was looking at the stack of these costumes and imagining the various scenarios, I burst out laughing, the worker there gets offended and I go like : but walla y5awaaf shu hathaaa!

I have no comment all I can say: ربنا لا تؤخذنا بما فعله السفهاء منا! hahahaha!

Hey guys am all in for doing what you want in the bedroom, being kinky and all that, maybe you have some cuffs and a whip, fine by me, its even a little turn on to be a bit nasty, but nothing about this costume is kinky, nasty nor a turn on, its plain SAD and scary, re-enforced how women are so obsessed with weddings- not marriage- nope they like "the wedding" part.

I want to pass by Nayomi after a month, see if the stock moved, it would be interesting to see if there are people out here who would buy it.

And just to add an important point: the material, the stitching, the quality: CHEAP!

and just to top up my day! There was a stand outside Nayomi filled with cheap fake knock-offs of YSL rings and Tiffany and Co necklaces. In the middle of the mall for god's sake! Its bad enough they stock them up in ma3ra'9, but in the middle of the mall? A disgrace!

Other than that, shopping was fun :)

Vanilla scent: an aphrodisiac?

So Jennifer Love Hewitt admits to wearing vanilla extract, yes the actual extract, the one you use in baking, behind her neck to attract men.

"I carry McCormick's Pure Vanilla [in my purse] -- the baking kind -- and dab it on my neck," she tells Us Weekly. "Men are attracted to the scent! One time, I put it on and four different guys were like, 'You smell amazing!'

While I don't agree to taking stuff out of your kitchen and using them as perfume, there is some truth and science to what she does.

According to Neurologist Alan Hirsch of the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago when he conducted a test to understand the impact of smell upon sexual arousal. He discovered the smell which arouses mature men the most was vanilla smell.

So it turns out that Vanilla scent is an aphrodisiac and stimulate the sexual senses, and helps in errr turning men on, and sometimes women too.

I actually thought for a while that I was attracted to a certain guy, and then after a while I discovered I was attracted to the vanilla scent he was wearing, and without it there was no attraction!

anyhow am an extreme case, so nevermind :P

Nevertheless, spraying on some Vanilla scented body mist, will have you smelling good, and it will turn on the senses of those who surround you. I DON'T recommend doing it the way Jennifer is, that is using the actual extract. Instead there are so many body creams and Mists you can find in the market that will give you the same effect.

Since in Oman the choices are limited, here are the top 3

 1) Victoria Secret: Vanilla Lace

This is the one I use, but I don't use the whole collection, I just use the body spray and body lotion.

2) Bath and Body Works: Warm Vanilla Sugar

3) Body Shop: Vanilla

Personally I wouldn't go as far as using the whole collection of any of the above because simply to me a body shower and gel, is something which only you would smell, it rarely lasts on skin, and in that case I would go for a scent that I love using during shower time, something energizing in the morning: Citrus scents, and more relaxing at evening: lavender.

As to what actually stays on the skin, it would be body butter/cream and body mist/spray. You don't want to use two various scents one as body cream and one as spray as the combination if not perfectly planned may end up smelling EEEW! But having your skin moist after using the cream will help the scent of the spray stay longer as compared to spraying it to dry skin.

Other aphrodisiac scents are Cinnamon and Lavender, but am not sure how cinnamon would actually smell on the body!

Lavender on the other side smells greats, I used to love the lavender collection by Loccatine , but too bad it closed here.

Loving The Tunic Dresses by Zara

I love those dresses

I think they are perfect for summer

They actually come in three colors: coral,  sand-beige and blue, which are just perfect for summer.

They are plain, so you can go ahead accessorize them with a thin waist belt, jewelry, maybe even a small scarf. I love the fact that they are plain, so after accessorizing them, even if someone else is wearing the same exact dress, you will still look different.
-which in Oman, lets face it, the odds of that happening is high, everyone shops from the same freaking mall!-

Their length is very appropriate. The fact that they are below the knee will save you from those -dress more appropriately- looks people give you when you wear a short dress above the knee around here. *sigh*

Their texture is very soft and light, its PERFECT for this weather.

They are on sale for 20 OMR, so cheap its a total steal!

So go ahead get one of them, pair it up with a cute pair of sandals and well pedicured toes and you are perfect to go

Steal her style: Jessica Stroup

I loved this look by Jessica Stroup - Silver from 90210-

and I thought of putting this look together!

So for the skirt, she is actually wearing a skirt that is asymmetrical, short from front, long from behind, but the closest thing I could find color wise was this skirt from Stradivarius, they have a new stock of it, I saw this weekend, so you will surly find your size, and its just 18.9 OMR

As for the top, I thought this top is a perfect match, from H&M 4.9 OMR

And then the accessories which are the whole point of this look:

The Multi chain necklace by CC SKYE
The portico bracelet by CC SKYE

Both available at Talyan's : 110 OMR, 63 OMR

And this is how the whole look will be

Now I strongly recommend that you wear a thin belt as shown with the Stradivarius skirt, because the skirt Jessica is wearing is a bit high waist, and the one I suggested is a lower waist, so to add shape wear a thin brownish or nude belt with it!

Hope you liked it

Beat The Heat: What Am Using Them For!

So here it goes, you walk into H&M and you see this short jersey loose-fitted dress

and you think: hmmm a perfect beach dress or a bikini cover up, and you grab it for the next time you hit the beach or go swimming.

But NO, I saw those dresses and went like this is heaven, this is the only thing I will be wearing under my closed abaya this whole summer, am never ever wearing pants, jeans, leggings, maxi dresses or any of that shit under the abaya again!

And so I went crazy and bought them in all colors and all patterns, they are about 5 OMR each, so it was a steal really!

And yeah before you judge me, let me tell you I reached a point of not tolerating the heat while wearing abaya that I was willing to start wearing nothing underneath! So this is a good alternative, am actually covered but they are so light and short you feel naked! Its the best discovery I love it, I am ready to wear abayas now!

And well they are useful as beach wear aswell, so 3a9foorin bi 7ajar :P

So if you hate the heat like me, RUSH now to H&M and get them,

P.S: Please don't wear them with open abayas!!

TaLyan loves HbyF designs!

HbyF designs are everything I love: they are so fierce

Kuwaiti accessories designer, Fahad Al Marzouq's designs remind me of Alexander Mcqueen's designs, in the sense that Fahad's designs are also so fierce.

One piece of his accessories can complete any plain looking outfit, it will add an edge in a way like no other pair of shoes or a small clutch can do.

Am especially in love with his latest collection, but even the past two collections are just as hot, I couldn't find a lot of photos that I can post here, because the images are protected in his website, but you can check them out at: http://hbyf-designs.com

Here are some of my fave

Beat The Heat 2: tried and tested

So anyone who dared to step out of their house this past Wed was horrified by how humid the weather was!

I was at LeftBank and the whole glass windows were covered with humid

All the ladies in the ladies' room were powdering their face as the makeup was melting off because of this humid weather even if you have ultra dry skin!

So even though your makeup will most probably melt off, using an anti shine gel that matifies the face before putting your makeup on helps in avoiding the excess melting!

anyhow in a post earlier I talked about a matifying gel that truly matifies, I tried it and tested it and its amazing, the only down side it isn't available in Oman

http://www.talyans.blogspot.com/2012/04/tried-tested-and-loved-beat-heat.html

So here is another very good matifying gel that is just as good as the Urban decay one, the good news its available in Oman, you will find it in the pharmacies, it is REALLY good, but the only down side that unlike the urbay decay gel, this one you can't apply it on top of the makeup, it should be used as a primer only

After applying it, within one minute you will feel that your skin is matt and tight, so try to apply the foundation within this minute to avoid it flaking off because your skin will be a bit dry after applying this primer.

I still rate the Urban decay one as number 1, but this is just as good.

For the love of leggings!

So leggings are still in,

But now its good bye to the plain black ones, and HELLO to patterned leggings

You can team them up with a plain top or a boyfriend blazer and you are ready to go!

They are infact substituting trousers, which is good in a way, they feel light on the skin, and in this heat as I mentioned in earlier posts, ANY THING LIGHTER, is way better. Honestly I don't remember the last time I wore a pair of jeans in this heat, it was months and months ago. Just the idea of denim touching my skin and trapping the heat within gives me nightmares!

So anyhow here are some of my fave picks of leggings

McQueen available at www.net-a-porter.com

Just Cavalli available at www.net-a-porter.com

PSF available at www.pintsizedfashionista.blogspot.com

 PSF available at www.pintsizedfashionista.blogspot.com

                                       PSF available at www.pintsizedfashionista.blogspot.com

And if you want to go for something more budget friendly and easy to shop for from the mall, then head to Mango as they have those leggings available, those are my fave ones

In the pursuit of the perfect tan!

This past whole week I have been bitching about the horrible weather

The burning sun, the intolerable humid

So this past weekend I decided to take advantage of this sun, and go for a day of un-limited swimming and tanning, I wanted to get the perfect tan!

But after hours of rubbing oil and getting baked under the sun, still I didn't catch the color, and I really wanted to get bronzed that day, I wasn't gonna wait for another session under the sun

So I was off to Saharz Saloon

As I mentioned in a previous post, Saharz has a tanning booth, and a session of 10 minutes costs 12 OMR,

So to intensify my color I went for 10 minutes in the booth and I was pretty satisfied with the color

But then when I got home, I was worried the color will fade, so to add the final touch I used the tanning towels to add more color- towels available at Talyan's boudoir

and by night time- luckily- I realized that yaay I got the perfect tan!!

So am not gonna bitch about this burning sun for the next couple of days, as I owe it to her!
