Speak Up

So here is another bit of chit chat

A more serious one though...

Well let me start by sharing a personal dilemma I faced and still face all the time

Friends and people who know me, usually accuse me of being: overly emotionally involved in defending various causes. They also say that I get so involved in other friends' problems as if they are my own.

They usually tell me, well yeah they asked for your help, but why do you care so much, what is in for you? It isn't your problem, stay neutral, its the smart way to stay out of problems and keep as much friends and connections.

Stupid me, never seem able to understand or listen to that advice.

It goes with little issues such as a friend being mistreated by another friend and standing up for her, all the way till the bigger issues that I seem to care deeply about such as war and violence against women.

It surprises me how people assume that if you are so involved in a cause or a problem you must have something personal to do with it.

So they start pyscho-analysis: maybe she has this disease, maybe she hates this person, maybe she is against this religion, maybe she is a lesbian, maybe he is gay, maybe she is not happy in her marriage, maybe she was beaten up by her family..etc

Next thing you know, if you speak for animals' rights they will say you have a secret fetish for animal
Or if you defend the enviromental rights, they will say you are secretly a tree!

So many issues go unspoken for: wars in the world, unjustice against different races, violence against women, discrimination against gay people, violence against home maids, inequality, and much more I can go on

and for some reason people wont speak up unless it somehow affects them personally, otherwise they will tell you

A while back I was close with a friend and she introduced me and all of our group to a new girl, this girl started hanging around with us, going for dinners, parties etc.
We started to sort of like this girl and she was so nice.
One day my friend came and addressed the whole group saying that we no longer invite this girl over, and if we do she "my friend" wont be coming around.
When asked for the reason she said: my boyfriend/fiance/husband etc.. says she is I quote " a slut, with a very bad reputation, and a total whore"
Now I dont like girls calling other girls those names, call her stupid, call her ugly, anything, but not a slut!
and with no surprise they girls just followed along, and no one questioned as to how true all of this truly is.

I couldnt go along, I have never heard anything bad about the girl
I have never seen anything bad from her
and she was really FUN! and I dont like the "lets exclude people" highschool drama shit

So I start hanging around with the girl and we get close and over a long period of time the topic of this friend comes up, and this girl by chance brings up the topic of X boyfriends she has dated, and apparently this boyfriend/fiance/husband is one of them. She shows me a photo of them. and in that moment everythin makes sense to me. She excluded her not because she is a "slut" as she claims. She excluded herbecause she was her lover's X and she didnt want us finding out and she probably was just jealous from her.

I turned really sour on this "friend" and on her relationship with her guy, feeling that am so disappointed in a friend that I though a true girls' girl. The one who sticks up for her friends. A strong woman. But apparently I was wrong. I couldnt confront her because I promised that girl not to bring this topic up ever.

Needless to say, after time, this same "friend" for unknown reason turned against me and turned every1 else too.


My point is, sometimes when you someone being treated unfairly, dont just turn the other cheek and say, ahhh it isnt my problem. One day you will be in a similar situation.

The next time you see someone making racial jokes, speak up
Next time you hear about war, take a moment of silence and then speak up
Next time you see a friend being bullied, stand up even if it means they might bully you too
Next time there is walk for the mentally ill, walk along, even if you dont know anyone who is mentally ill
Next time you see someone discriminating based on religion, sexual orientation, race, gender, age SPEAK UP
Dont just stay quiet so that you FIT IN!

Nails and Hands!

So this is what am loving right now to accessorize my hands!

For the nails, am loving nude these days, goes well for my work everyday, orange and lime distract the doctors *rolling eyes*, so I found the perfect nude shade at Inglot: 803, you can find it in City Center

For my wrist am LOVING the new Trinkets collection, its a bit different this time, loved the gold plated wrap chains with the hamsa hand and a cute little key, You can find Trinkets in Bareeq Al Shatti, its a stall in the middle.

And for my other wrist, am LOVING LOVING the La Mer watch/charm wraps, its two in one for those who dont like the typical watch thing *thats me, me!!*

Classic Thursday Movie

Okay so I really want to meet a "female" who says she just doesnt ADORE Breakfast at Tiffany's?

I mean they are so many great classics, but when the word classic movie comes up, my mind wanders away to Audrey Hepburn..I just cant help it

It got to the point where I knew half of the quotes in the movie! Because come on lets face it, they are so memorable!

For you who havent watched it, it is a romantic drama filmed in the early fourties, and it won 3 Academy awards, so it is a must watch.

Sharing a bit of heartache!

So here is the deal

The last week of October and the first week of November were supposed to be a melody in this tune-less city

Reason being is that on the 26th of October: YANNI WILL BE PLAYING IN OMAN!

and on the 1st of November: ANDREA BOCELLI will be performing in Royal Opera House

So well since I grew up on the tunes of Yanni, and well andrea just makes burst into tears whenever I hear him sing, you can expect how beyond HAPPY, and OVER the moon I WAS

I figured I just had to be part of this melody! I mean this is once in a life time, right here in OMAN!

Well, bleh! The melody is still taking place, but I wont be hitting all the notes

BECAUSE

The andrea bocelli performance is SOLD OUT! Like have been sold out for weeks by now I guess, and my lazy ass didnt make a move sooner.

So its just Yanni for me this year

I will probably get hit by a bus before ever hearing Bocelli perfom, its my kind of luck

Actually I cried for two afternoons, am still griefing

Well though of sharing this heartache with you

A New Year, A New View..

I havent been updating the blog for a week and a half now,

Been reflecting on so many things lately since it was my bday this sat, CORNY, I know..

Its just that so many things happened in the past year.
This exact same time last year, -around late august early september- I lost a person very close to me and the past year has been revolving around dealing with this loss. I still miss this person very much..I could honestly say I had most of my laughs, most of my fun, and most of my madness with this person!

And then again around November I got involved with a bunch of friends, who were far away from the the word "friends" I got in a real horrible situation, which involved pyscho jealous behavior which ended up making me loose alot of other close people to me, and the whole time I have been repeating the whole scenario in my head, thinking what I could have done differently, and I would come up with same answer: I DID THE BEST I COULD!

So to me the whole incident was a negative one that I gained nottin from, and I kept wishing I never got involved with those people


Until the last few months, I realized that in the midest of all this mess I made a good friend, no wait, a great new friend from a total stranger I met in this whole mess, and suddenly I realized that maybe I was looking at the empty half of the cup, and that the truth is this whole "negative mess" brought me someone very special to me life who showed me a new loyal side of friendship..

So I came up with few ground rules I want to follow for the up coming year:

1) TRY, JUST TRY, to look on the bright side of stuff
2) Dedicate more time for myself, and stop worrying about other people and stop making their problems mine
3) Be nice to people, but dont expect that they will be just as nice to me
4) Stick to what I believe even if it means I will loose people who surrond me
5) I will keep speaking my mind, I wont sugar coat my words, I will not try to be an ideal girl just so that people accept me
6) Focus more on my health, what I eat and my weight!
7) Focus more on my work and career goals
8) Spend more time with my family
9) KEEP ON HAVING FUN
10) AND YES KEEP ON HAVING MORE FUN! NO APOLOGIZES!


So anyhow my birthday went on great, my bestie threw me a surprise on thursday at leftbank, with a cute little cake, and it was just so unexpected and so adoreable, I love her to bits!!

And then I celebrated it again with my family, and that was adoreable too,
so YAAAY, am 24!! hehe

and yeah to all of you fashionstas, just wanted to let you know I ran into the fake chanel bag girl again two days back, I guess no bday is complete without a fake chanel, and YEAH SHE IS STILL WEARING IT

As Coco Chanel once said: A woman who doesn't wear perfume has no future.

And again it isnt about wearing any perfume, I mean sparying on a cheap cologne wouldnt do much to your future
