This is what am loving now: Bunny ears

Okay I know many think this trend is stupid or childish

But I think its hot

It started off in the marc jacobs show, and according to him this whole idea came to him when he saw one of the girls working on his staff, named lucy, with a piece of cloth wrapped around her head and the ends were standing up like bunny ears.

After that we saw it in the LV show

We saw it on celebrities: Lady GaGa, the Olsen twins, Madonna

and then it was on the street

and I just love it, I think its beyond adoreable

I hear TopShop has bunny ear bands, but since we dont have it here in Oman I will never know

I am searching for a nice pair now, if I didnt find I will be getting my sewing kit, a piece of black velvet and I will make my own!

P.S: thanks to my mom, I do have one talent, I can sew..

I will leave with the photos now,
Honestly tell me, HOT OR NOT?

The 1980s Party

First of all let me say: I LOVE HI FM, AND I LOVE NAWRAS BACKSTAGE

They brought some tunes to this "tune-less" city as I call it

I mean before them, we never used to have proper concerts, unless you like arabic singers, that was all that was being offered.

Anyhow yesterday they hosted a 1980s party @ Intercon, they have 4 huge icons from the 80s performing live: Katrina from katrina and the waves, Carol decker, and from the cutting crew: Nic Van Ede

It was a small event, they just had 1000 tickets for it, and it was hosted by Pat Sharp

The nice thing was that almost everyone was wearing some kind of an 80s clothing item, some were even fully dress in an 80s theme

I got ready almost like last minute, I went for sort of the 80s punk rock look but in a more mellow way :P -an exscuse for not dressing up fully in 80s-

So I had shoulder pads, a pink neon blazer, fish net stocking, and I like to think my nail polish also suited the theme, I had the O.P.I shutter black and silver with neon pink crystals attached.

The doors opened at 9 PM and for around two hours people were juss mingling and chilling with the DJ playing tracks from the 80s

And then they introduced the first act: Katrina from : Katrina and the waves, she performed for around half an hour

After that it was the crew, they performed and after that they took a short break where nicely enough of them they took photos with the fans

as for the 3rd act, I had to leave before that, some personal drama took place :P

Beside those poor quality photos I took with my mobile: the ones above,
I also took some poor quality videos with my mobile-hence the poor quality.

One video is of Katrina's act and the other one is of The cutting crew act

I uploaded them on youtube, you can find the links below, check them out and sorry for the bad quality, I didnt take a camera with me.

Katrina performing

The Cutting Crew performing

It was a fun night, loved it and cant wait for the Jay Sean concert on the 9th of November, get your tickets!

The Kim Dilemma

Before I start this post I would like to say two very important things:
Hypocrisy:  MAKES ME SICK! Saying one thing and doing another is plain ass CRAZY! Doing the nasty and then acting all proper in front of people is NUTS!
Jealousy: is the ugliest thing ever! All forms of jealousy makes a person look pathetic and ugly. AND PLEASE don’t give me crap about how it’s a normal human feeling, and how only pigs don’t get jealous etc. Jealousy is a very SAD feeling. Period

Now to the main post that includes both hypocrisy and obvious jealousy. Well I guess by now everyone knows that Kim K’s trip to Dubai stirred up a lot of controversy.

While some people –the normal people- just enjoyed looking at her clothes, makeup and hair and getting a nice laugh looking at how she explored the UAE culture: riding camels and smoking sheehsa.
Other extremist took this opportunity to start some non-sense lectures about how our society is becoming so celebrity obsessed and how kim is a bad role model and why are we so admiring her and blab la bla.

The funny thing is that if this came from a sheikh in a mosque, I would totally respect it, if it came from a mother who is properly covered , who follows Islamic rules and follows traditions I might even stay quiet. BUT TO HEAR this none sense come from women who are in the industry one way or another, who themselves aren’t all proper and good role models, then please SHUT UP!
الغلط غلط ما تفرق اذا كان كبير او صغير

Before I go on I would like you to read this post, it was posted in the famous blog FRM, once you read it you will understand what the story is

If you don’t have time to read – please do read it

If you really really don’t have time, I will give you a very short re-cap
Well a famous UAE abaya designer sent her abayas  to Kim to wear when she was in Dubai, but Kim didn’t wear them, so the designer got all bitter and angry and posted in her blog about how disgraceful that our society is being seduced by western culture and how we should have boycott Kim K and protested against her coming in Dubai etc. The post here that I sent you the link for talks about the hypocrisy of this designer and how she herself isn’t all that, she bashes kim k saying she represents morals against our culture and traditions, but she herself hires models wearing short skirts to show cast her collections, she herself travels abroad without following our tradition dress code and etc.

Here is a nice comment one girl wrote about the emairti designer:

She's just a little spoilt brat that's used to getting all the attention.. She talks about culture and morals but you see her picture in all the magazines and newspapers.. That's not our culture..

What angers me is "why kim?"

There are many other "bad influences" that made it into the UAE, most notibly Snoop Dog who is a drug abuser, a porn director and a general offender...

So how come we didn't see a blog about Snoop dog hind?? Ohhhh that's right, because you didn't send abayas to Snoop and get rejected...

Maybe if you Spent less time hating on celebrities and more time designing sleeves maybe Kim wouldve worn your abayas...

Now to what my opinion is about the whole matter:
A)     OBVIOUSLY this designer is just angry and jealous. Her anger made her post things that just made her show as a hypocrite. Honestly women like her make me ashamed to be born in this culture where girls do the nasty stuff behind closed door or abroad and then scream about traditions and sum3a and act all proper. PLEASE atleast have the guts to stand up for what you believe, and don’t say we cant our society wont understand.

B)      No one considers Kim K to be a model. Please y3ni she is just a celebrity who is hot and everyone enjoys looking at someone hot and who dresses well. I guess Arab girls love her more than other celebrities because she has the sorta of Arabic look so they can identify with her “beauty” not her “actions”. So all of you screaming about morals and about how she is a porn star and all that shit, please take a chill pill! No one is thinking of her sex tape, we are thinking about how nice her hair is, whats wrong with that? Lets ban beauty and fashion magazines all together shall we?

C)        And finally I noticed that all the haters who hate hot celebrities usually hate the celebrities that MEN find to be extra hot. They hate Kim, they hate Megan Fox, they hate Angelina, in a nutshell they hate the women they wish to be. Do you know how ugly that makes you seem? Next time you hear a guy saying how hot Megan is, instead of bashing her, how about saying: I KNOW SHE IS SO HOT, I WOULD WANT TO BE A GUY TO DATE HER! That would make you sound sexy instead of sounding pathetic when you say: YUCK, hathe el qaleeelat el adab eli ma tst7ee el whore el slut etc..

NO BODY LIKES A JEALOUS GIRL, GET IT PLEASE!!!

And now my beloved readers, am going to PUKE, because I remembered a certain very jealous girl.

P.S: I totally love hot girls! And no not in nasty way. But honestly beauty is so nice to look at! Pretty girls, pretty clothes, pretty boys, pretty interiors, anything pretty makes my day!

2005: it was Stella McCartney

2006: Viktor and Rolf

TaLyan is Loving Mennez

When it comes to buying baby stuff: garments, toys, err tools and all of that, I am CLUELESS!

Even though I have a bunch of adoreable nephews and nieces, am still clueless and not very involved.

But last week one of my best friends gave birth to an adoreable little baby girl, and for sure I couldnt go empty handed, so I went shopping for baby stuff

I have heard of this place in MQ, where they sell designer baby garments , so I thought that would be an ideal place, nearby.

I was actually very pleasently surprised when I saw the shop, its beyond cute!

The layout, the decor and the overall atmosphere is very "warm", I actually enjoyed browsing around even after I was done picking up the gifts.

Also the sweet girl who was working there was very helpful, espically since I am totally clueless to what a new born needs and even more clueless when it comes to sizes! She was a great help, and I ended up getting the following :

Luckily the shoes were pink, but I couldnt get the baby bottle in pink too, it was out of stock they only had it in blue and grey :(

The sales lady wrapped the 3 items nicely in a bag and provided me with a cute sheep-shaped card to write on.

I loved the shop, and I loved the gift! I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking to buy a special baby gift , they have so much stuff for babies, and they also have a section for mommies as well, so cute!

AND the most important thing is that I got to see baby LooLa ♥♥♥♥
She is an angel, pretty like an angel

Fashion and Beauty Horrors!! Part 2

Since all of you just LOVED part 1, I had to write this one

So anyhow I was out yesterday for dinner and it has been a while since I have been to somewhere very crowded, but oh well I was just aching for that place's food.

What I can tell you is that the food was great, but I guess halloween came early this year, because all the girls were dressed SCARY!

so lets start:

1) The knee length abaya

Other than the ones that are actually tailored knee length - and yes there are such ones- am talking now about the self made knee length abaya.

You know when the girl is trying to show off her amazing skinny legs -if only they were skinny walla kint baskit-.

I was standing and there she came. A girl walking with her abaya raised up to her knees, showing off a horrific pair of cheap faded skinny jeans -that didnt look very flattering on her elephant sized legs- paired with eye-blinding pink boots- yes you heard me right, boots with an abaya and shella!

Seriously am not making this up

If I was her I would make the abaya extra long to hide that ugly pair of jeans and boots, BUT there she was raising it up and wandering around like top model.

Please, for the love of god, raising your abaya till your knee isnt sexy, its cheap
and to make matters worst, what is under it IS FREAKING UGLY!

The only time you are allowed to raise your abaya that high is when you are trying to run away from a murderer holding an axe! Otherwise please keep your abaya down

2) The Fugly nose piercing

You know how they say not all colors suit everybody, not all hair cuts suit everybody, etc.
Whatever happened to "not all piercings suit everybody?!"
Ones that other people can see!

I love nose piercings, I think that on certain people they look very VERY VERY adoreable, kinda of cute too.

But if you have a large nose, then no, it isnt for you.
If the piercing looks like a small atom on your huge nose, then odds are, it doesnt suit you
If the piercing looks like its being squeezed by your nostrils, odds are, it doesnt suit you

and if after all this you still choose to have it, PLEASE get a facial first, a nose piercing on a nose filled with black heads is horrific!! TERROR!

3) Necklace is on TOP tonight

I thought I will never see this again
I thought finally they grew out of this habit
But No, I was wrong, again..

Its like wearing your bra on top of your shirt, not pretty right?
Well so is the long chained necklaces you buy from Claire's and wear it on top of ur abaya. They are long and dangling and akeed matching with the shella color

4) ..and so goes for the sunglasses on top of the shella

You know what am talking about, its when the sides are showing being placed on top of the side of the shella -hell I cant even explain it, that sentence didnt even make sense- thats how silly it is
The point is, the sunglasses go tucked behind your ear, not on top of the shella
What is the point seriously? Trying to show us the designer's name? Holding the shella in place? I really want to know..

5) Colored leggings under the abaya

and No am not talking about a decent black, or navy blue or grey or even dark brown pair of leggings
am talking about LIME, PINK, ORANGE, YELLOW, the whole 4 for one pack that was probably on sale

See I must admit, somewhere in this world some really hot girl with a good sense of fashion can pull that look, but not you honey, not with your matching pink shella!

Thats it for now, hopefully there won't be a part 3

Happy Halloween you all!

Romantic Chillaxing

So as mentioned before am addicted to Spas and Saloons

Last month I reviewed Ayana Spa: not a fan over all

This month am reviewing my fave spa: The Chedi Spa

I just love The Chedi overall, love their halls, the lobby, the food, the rooms, the pool, even the toilets!

Whenever am meeting someone for the first time, and am hoping that everything goes well, I have to meet them in Chedi!

I love sitting on the terrace by the fire in the winter and indoors in the summer.

Now to the main point: The Spa

Its an amazing spacious spa with 13 treatment rooms and a health club attached by with an amazing endless pool

I personally love their facials, its either there or at Saharz, the only two places that will give you the best skin specific facial. The therapist at Chedi are very friendly, very thorough, and will attend to all your needs and requests

I also love their scrubs, its best to take it as part of a package where you will be taken to a suite, where you will get all your services done.

Finally to my fave service at their spa, and after which this post is named, is the romantic bath.
If you and your loved one want a nice relaxing time, get a massage together and then ask for the romantic bath.

You will basically get 30 minutes to spend in a bath that is filled with rose petals, aromatic soothing oils and love potion. You will also be served champagne and sea fruits.

I highly recommend it!
