What I loved about Ramdhan this year

I LOVED: The lovely prayer broadcasts sent to me on BB from very spiritual people

The most amazing one was a prayer sent to me regarding religion tolerance, I loved it so much that I broadcasted it to everyone on my list, and now I wanna share it with you:

"Allahoma look with compassion on the whole human family, take away the controversial teachings of arrogance, divisions and hatred which have infected our hearts, break down the walls that separate us, reunite us in bonds of love and work through our confusion to accomplish your purpose on earth, let all nations, races and religions jointly serve you in justic and peace and harmony. Open the closed minds, teach them tolerance and guide them with love. Amen"

I just love prayers that are empty of anything negative, hate or anger or fear, and I just love prayers that are full of love and positive words, it just tunes your mind into a positive zone..

I LOVED: Charity everywhere!!

Charity was everywhere this year. TV, events, messages, broadcasts and it was so heart warming to see all that effort by people.

And what I loved the most is that it is different that what it used to be, zaman it was all about تبرئة ذمة

It was like just give away money to the "needy" regardless of who the needy are

But now you see money going to various causes, which shows that people really want to help and have opened up their minds when it comes to helping people and accepting those who might seem different than what we consider to be "normal"

The causes varied from money and clothing for the needy, to money raised for female education, money raised for somalyia, money raised for people with mental disability and more and more!

BUT WHAT I LOVED THE MOST, is that it wasnt just money, youth in Oman was willing to give time and effort to help people who are less fortunate than us.

A great example is the event hosted by Ba9ma

They organized an event where all kids celebrated eid, the catch was the event combined both regular kids and their families and other kids who are differently-able. It was so amazing and am so proud of all those girls and boys who organized this event!

I LOVED: Desserts made by MaMa and me

All those who know me, know that I dont cook, period.

BUT, am queen of desserts, and Ramdhan is the time I get more creative, anyhow I made many desserts this year for my mama and family, but stupid of me I didnt take photos, however I will share with you photos of the same desserts I did earlier this year..

I LOVED: Chillaxing with my besties and family after eftar

Since we dont have many options here in muscat we were chilling in the same places: Kargeen, shangrilla, tche tche, but also this year the new addition was the porche tent at Inter and the roof top at La Mer

I loved the food at the porche tent and the fact that it was indoors

and they show casted all the matches, ANND they were open until 3:30 AM, not like other places closing early :@

Had some great time there, hope they host it again next year

What I Loved about La Mer was the atmosphere, the food and the Oud player.

He kept singing and singing none stop and his songs are amazing and his voice is heavenly

I kept requesting the same song from the Oud player, and the last night of ramdhan I just had to take a recording of the song and share it with you guys, I LOVE THIS SONG, but I couldnt upload the song :(

Eid Mubarak

I told you before didnt I?

That am madly in love with this woman

Yes I love love love Lady GaGa,

To me she is a fashion muse,a true artist,  an amazing singer, a fierce sex kitten and an amazing woman

I am always amused by her looks,

But this time I was beyond amused,

In thsi year's MTV VMA Lady GaGa came dressed as a man, she came dressed as her altered male ego, whom she calls Jo Calderone

She came dressed in a  plain white tee, a blazer and dress pants, she explainedto the crowd why it was a he, not a she, who appeared before them.

"Lady GaGa, she left me," Joe started. "She said it always starts out good but..For example, she gets out of the bed, puts on heels, she goes into the bathroom, I hear the water go on, she comes out of the bathroom, dripping wet and she's still got the heels on."

She rambled on, "What's with the hair? At first it was sexy. Now I'm just confused." She added, "She said I'm just like the last one. I'm not like the last one"

And then he/she jumped on the piano and started performing "You and I"

and yeah he tried to kiss Britney, but she was like been there, done that :P

During the red carpet pre-show, Lady Gaga was announced to be the winner of Best Video with a Message for “Born this Way”. “I'm really proud of the 'Born This Way' video, and for it to be nominated is an absolute honor.” she earlier told MTV News



I personally ADORE the song,

it does hold a great message and being dressed this way, lady gaga really shows us that she know and believes in what sings

Kim K's Wedding!

Yeah Its been a while since Kim K tied the knots

 but since my last post was about brides who dress up more like drag queens rather than brides, I have decided to share photos of Kim's wedding look which I consider to be just perfect.

Her make up was amazing, the dress by Vera Wang was the type of dress I would wear to my wedding and what I loved the most was her diamond head band

Wedding FIASCO!

Am feelin a bit un-easy about Ramdhan ending

and it has a lot to do with this being a holy month, but it also has to do with trying to avoid seeing certain "views"  once the month is over..

Well to be more clear, am avoiding seeing this type of "views"

and no am not attending a drag queen show, sadly I will be seeing these views in a certain type of celebration named "weddings"

If you are still confused, let me start by telling you a story

Once upon a time, in a place in this world, little girls as soon as they were born are all told one big secret

They are told that in their life time they will have one day in which they can be queens and princesses!

That that day they can do whatever they want and still be the star of the evening!

They are taught what to wear, how to act, what food to feed people, what color to decorate the walls, what give a aways to give the guests

Mind you- they arent taught anything about how to choose the right mm "creature" whom they will be sharing the rest of their lives with, afterall that doesnt matter, because it is all about THE BIG EVENT! hell they consider it a red carpet event!!

So NOW, since in their mind it is their day to be a "queen" and that it is a "red carpet event"

They have for some reason associated it with (and decided to look like) "drag queens" and a very very VERY sad and twisted version of "lady GaGA"

You know what am talking about..

am talking about this:

DRAG QUEENS POSING TO BE BRIDES!!!

And honestly ya raayt it was just about the makeup, now they are even dressing horriably! Them and their family and their inlaws and friends, its like one big FREAK SHOW!

They have that makeup on ^, and they are dressing in themes now..

There was a certain wedding milka where the bride dressed as a PEACOCK!

and there are weddings where you see 30-ish year old women dressed up as princesses *puke*

and lets not forget the masquerade "wedding" balls, where the family and friends are walking around wearing masks, well atleast that way we wont see the horrific makeup

 

and then there are those who incoroprate feathers into their dress, and fur and bulbs and fruits and hell one even had wheels incoroprated into her dress to help move it!!

and the tight up held hair do-s, with zillion of pins and tons of hair spray and sparkly sparkly butterflies spread all over the head and the larger than life tiaras

Hell it is as if the queen of England have just marched into the building

And after having spent a fortune on all of this "freak show"

You will hear in a year time: mskeeeena zolekhaa, heya oo khalfan by6alqooo!!!

too bad, maybe if they spent more time getting to know each other, and less time travelling the world buying dresses for the wedding and clothes for the honeymoon, this wouldnt have happened

Fashion and Beauty Horrors!! Part 1

Well, yeah beauty is in the eye of the beholder and taste varies, oo el jamal howa jamal el roo7,and yada yada yada

But that applies to beauty that GOD has created, that I can't even dare to talk about or judge, because I truly believe every1 is pretty if they know how to work what god gave them

But when it comes to man-made fashion and man-made beauty, well, how can I say this, SWEETY AM GONNA TALK AND JUDGE ALL I WANT...

After all it is our eyes that are being harmed by some of those horrific trends!

You go ahead, you are free to wear what you want, and am free to make fun of it..Bleh!

So first up: Fashion horrors!

The Tight Abbayas

You know which abayas am talking about. The one so tight that you could see the girl's bra strip, (and am not even joking about that).

Yes once upon a time, they were in fashion, but that was so long ago I cant even remember when, I think I was still in school.

Anyhow those days are gone, tight abayas now are just plain cheap, the moment I see a girl wearing those one piece, body fit abayas I come up with the following conclusions:

1) She is cheap 2) She has no taste 3) She doesnt wear abayas and she has only this once since 9 years

Burn them, throw them, do anything with them but dont wear them!

The Hijabi Emo



Now I couldnt post a real photo of those, even though if I went to city center I will find tons of them, but you know I dont want to go to jail for posting their photos.

Anyhow I have notting against emos, infact I love the hair cuts and sometimes their sense of fashion, WHAT I DONT LIKE, is those fake wanna-be emos you see in the malls dressed up as if they are emos but wearing a shilla with that. YUCK, just YUCK!

See babe either lose the emo style or lose the shella, and having sad that y3ni akeed you should lose the style, it is just not working for you with the shella.

Miss Matchy-Matchy

Now those are VERY common.

You will be walking down the street minding your own bizz, and then BOOM, you are struck with a thunder of red color or orange color or blue color

Here it goes: the only thing that would be of another color is the abaya, being black ofcourse. Everything else is the same color in the god damn same shade!

Orange shella, orange lipstick, orange eye shadow, orange necklace(on top of the abaya, mind you) orange bracelet, orange nail polish, orange bag, and akeed orange shoes!

To those girls the concept of mix and match doesnt apply, all they do is match and match and then match a bit more and then match it all over, and itsnt even matching, because matching isnt wearing the same color in the same shade, I dont know wt it is called

Color blind perhaps?!

Circus Fashion

Ahhh my fave *heart, heart*

Those are the opposite of the matchy-matchy, those girls believe that they have to wear every color in the rainbow in the same outfit, even if those colors were at the end of the specturm and dont "match"

They also believe alot in "layering". They start with say a yellow full sleeves body, on top of that they will wear an orange vest, on top of that a different shade orange cardiagn. They team it up with skinny jeans, on top of it a yellowish patterned mini skirt, and some red warmers and brown boots and pink accessories and a green shella.

or something like that, you get the picture

You will probably catch her with a fake chanel bag and a fake kuwaiti accent aswell -yeah you know who they are-

Oh its you again..with the fake chanel..

Yeah we have been down this road before..

I had a whole post talking about fake bags, and well fake everything

But this same group of girls keep popping up everywhere, a specific girl I might say

I go to the cinema, she is there, and so is the fake chanel bag

I attend a lecture/ workshop ,she is there, and so is the fake chanel bag

I go to a coffe shop, and ohh yeah she is there, and AGAIN, so is the fake chanel bag

and what troubles me the most is the pride with which she carries the fake bag every single day!!

hell if it was real I wouldnt be carrying it that much, let alone fake..

So anyhow I just wanted to let her know, I got three bbms from three important people who have something they want to say to her:

First it was Karl Lagerfeld

And then CoCo the Clown

AND finally it was"the killer" from the Scary Movie sequel

So just to sum it up, here is the core of the messages:

Karl Lagerfeld wants to you to get rid of the fake bag, otherwise he will go on strike

CoCo the Clown

 is very angry, he demands you and your group of friends return the clothes you stole from him! He says that you shouldnt be using his circuis outfits in an attempt to dress up in arghh "kuwaiti-style" because seriously you are way off base! Please dont insult the kuwaitis with your pathetic attempts, so bring all the clothes back, yeah yeah including the high waist flare pants!

and finally

The killer from scream wants to marry you, yeah we know you are engaged, bss he is really keen!

Loving MAC Semi-Precious Collection

I just  LOVE bronze smokey eyes

They go well with everything, they give you a very natrual look

I hate applying green, purple, blue etc eye shadow

So I always wear bronze earthy colors

and am always searching for the perfect eye shadow range for the bronze smokey look

and LATELY am just loving the MAC semi precious collection

They are justt perfect, they blend easily and the colors are truly mesmerizing

I love using

Mineralize eye shadow in Smokey Ruby,

 

It looks pretty dark in the photo, but once you apply it, it really blends well and softens and gives you that great peachy-browny dark color.

A TaLyan's chit chat: Love Addicts!

So I thought its time again to share with you some of the chit chat me and my bestie have in our boudoir

A topic that keeps on popping up, are those girls we know who just seem to be "so obssesed" when it comes to love and relations

You know who am talking about, each one of you has that one or two friends who just seem to be a totally different person when it comes to love

They become very needy when they are in a relationship, they smother their partner, they dedicate ALL their time to their partner, they change themselves, suddenly they change with anyone who doesnt support their relationship, they become extra sensitive when it comes to their partner

They tolerate cheating, being mis-treated, being humiliated, being controlled.

They become extra protective, they become very jealous, they dont listen when you state the obvious

Suddenly they alienate all their family and friends from their unbelievable attachment and addiction to their partner.

In the past people would simply tell you: its LOVE, oh great old LOVE

But in certain cases it isnt simple old love, its a whole new level of obssesion and addiction

I dont want to get into very complicating details, but research and study shows that so many brain neurotransmitters, chemicals and hormones play a great role in love

That most of the time, espically in the start of a relationship, the part of the brain that is active during the whole new relation process is the part responsible for drive and challenge

and as expected with any drive and challenge, as it gets harder, the brain works harder to get it and becomes more focused and obssesed on getting it, and the person develops sorta of a "tunnel vision" where all he focuses on is getting his goal- regardless of how he really feels about the person, because now it isnt about love or feelings, its about a winning or loosing a challenge.

In a way that explains why being dumped, makes you want the person much more! Your brain becomes more focused on winning this challenge you lost.

Its probably the reason why all these stupid love guide books tell you about all those : hard-to-get techniques and reason why all old arab poets used to write about التغلي

If you ask me, its stupid, I mean would you want a relationship based on manuiplating a person's brain and hormones? To get them fall madly in love with you based on a drive for winning? okay then answer this, what will happen when after 2 years these chemicals cool down ( and yes research shows that the whole drive phase is just in the begining)  and you both realize you have no true feelings and nothing in common?! that the reason you are together is because you played the hide and seek, hard to get game on the poor guy or girl and messed up their brain?!

But then some people love this meaning-less kinda of craze people will develop for them, they mistake it for being loved and being popular, when its simply like giving a kid a very average gift and then taking it away. The kid even though doesnt like the boring average gift that much, he will obsses about it because you took it away..

So anyhow back to topic, you probably wondering why am I going on and on about these people who are very dysfunctional in love

Well because we have this attitude of saying: ohhh its just love, they are in love, there is nothing to do about it

well HELL NO!

as they say it اذا عرف السبب, بطل العجب

We should deal with our dysfunctional feelings as problems that need to be fixed, and understanding the origin of those dysfunctional feelings will help solve them

That is why around the world there are rehab centers for people who are love addicts, LAA, love addicts anonymous

And in places where such center are not available, you have your regular therapists, life coaches and relationship coaches, now there is no shame in seeing someone and talking about these problems.

If your love life is affecting the way you feel emotionally about yourself, if its affecting your career or school life, if its disconnecting you socially from people, if its alienating your friends, then helll yeah you have a problem!!

And for the people who are big fans of misunderstanding me, listen, I have nothing against love, I love LOVE!

I just dis-like any emotion that is abused, I dislike seeing people who are most of the time strong and in full control of their life, lose this control and make fools of themselves in love

Yes we all do mistakes in love, we all make a bit of fools of ourselves and that is fine

But again there is a limit..when you start loosing your life to any kind of emotion, you know you are heading for rock bottom and you need help

and I just feel glad that science and research can help us understand the origion of the problem in order for us to control it and solve it.
